Why I’m Running…
I am running for MSUSD School Board because I have two daughters - Eleanor (age 6) and Julia (age 3) who will attend and benefit from our local public school system. Eleanor is currently attending Mount Shasta Elementary and Julia will also attend MSE and Sisson Middle School in a few years’ time. With so many wonderful years ahead of us in this district, I see being a part of the school board as a meaningful way to serve and be involved.
A great school is the heartbeat of a vibrant community, and a solid school board is integral in making that vision come to life. Our current board has weathered some challenging times and still managed to keep our budget solvent, hire some great new teachers, and Superintendent, while also secure funding for a new HVAC system. This system will help keep our school healthy, safe, and open!
The last two years of Covid have brought unprecedented challenges for all of us as well as divisions in our community that need to be healed. I believe I have the skills as a good listener, communicator, and decision maker to facilitate and ensure all people and points of view are represented.
Through outreach and involvement, my goal as a board member is to increase awareness among parents about the important role our School Board plays in their child’s education and to provide visibility into the process. Misinformation leads to divisions that we can’t afford to have as a community, so I would like to create an avenue for parents to be involved, learn, and contribute!
